Armando Escalante
With over 20 years of high-tech experience Armando is currently the Chief Operating Officer for Opera Solutions, a Big Data enterprise solutions provider. Prior to Opera solutions he was Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of LexisNexis, as well as Head of HPCC Systems. Armando has also held senior positions at Bell Labs, EPSON America, Vignette, and Unisys Corp. Having completed his undergraduate degree from Universidad Simón Bolívar, Armando also holds an Ms Cs in Computer Science from the Stevens Institute of Technology (in Hoboken, NJ), an MBA in Finance from West Coast University, and Executive Certificates from Harvard Business School. He is also working on an Innovation Certificate from MIT.

Paul Freet, Founder
Paul is a Principal with Georgia Institute of Technology’s VentureLab where he aids professors and researchers to create startup companies based on their research. Paul was the founder and CEO of venture- capital-backed Racemi, a pioneer in server blades and cloud software. In November of 2007, he was inducted into the Georgia Tech College of Engineering’s Academy of Distinguished Engineering Alumni.

Michael Gade
Michael is the former SVP Merchandising and CMO at 7-Eleven. Prior to that he was a Regional Operations Officer and Corporate VP at The Home Depot. Michael was also Chairman Retailing and Consumer Products at Coopers & Lybrand. Michael serves on a number of corporate boards including Rent-a-Center and MFRI. He is currently an Executive in Residence with the University of North Texas.

Benn R. Konsynski, PhD
Dr. Konsynski arrived at Goizueta Business School following six years on the faculty at the Harvard Business School where he taught in the MBA program and several executive programs. Prior to arriving at HBS, he was a professor at the University of Arizona where he was a co- founder of the university’s multimillion dollar group decision support laboratory. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Purdue University and specializes in electronic data interchange (EDI), channel systems, electronic integration, information partnerships and digital commerce.

Marion Smith
Currently Co-Founder-President and CEO – Renewvia Energy Corporation - a Solar Developer of large-scale rooftop solar power plants located on investment-grade industrial warehouses. Mr. Smith’s experiences include: building four companies from start-up to commercial operations, building a company from a 6 person start up to a 500 employee publicly-traded company with a peak market-cap of $25 Billion, raising over $15 million in venture/angel investment in early stage companies. Prior to starting Renewvia Energy, Mr. Smith founded Micron, Georgia’s leading mosquito misting company. As President and CEO, he directed the operational and strategic path of this rapidly growing business. Mr. Smith negotiated a sale of the business resulting in a return of over 150% on invested capital. Prior to Micron, he acted as President and CEO of e-lingo Corporation. During his tenure at E- lingo, Mr. Smith raised over $10 million in venture capital. E-lingowas recognized as the world-market leader in the online, OEM internet language translation business.

Michael Sorensen, PhD
For over ten years, Michael has actively explored how big data can be used to solve important problems. During his Ph.D. research at the Georgia Institute of Technology, he demonstrated how complex statistical analysis could be used to improve the performance of neural prosthetic devices. He then founded Simatra Modeling Technologies, a start-up producing cutting-edge solutions for mathematical modeling on high-performance computing devices. He now works as a data scientist and data visualization expert for a Fortune 50 technology company in Austin, TX.

John Wallace
Most recently Mr. Wallace is the founder of Chastain Advisors, a strategic advisory firm that provides strategy advice to medium and large-size companies. Mr. Wallace’s experience includes 4 years of investment banking at The Robinson-Humphrey Company as an Associate Investment Banker. He also spent 12 years as a Strategy Partner at The Boston Consulting Group, where he managed the firm’s Consumer Goods and Retail practice in the Southeast, working for both retailers and CPG companies ranging from Fortune 50 to small start-up companies. After that, he spent three years working for Georgia-Pacific, as a Marketing and Selling Strategist in both the U.S. and Europe for their consumer products division.
